HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY!!

Teaching first grade definitely has it's pros and cons on holidays!! Pro: You get to do silly things and they think it is the greatest!! Con: The kids are crazy ALL week!!
The other first grade teachers and I decided to mess up our classrooms, tie up the chairs and desks with string, and put little green leprechaun foot prints all over our classrooms. When the kids came in, they went nuts! It was so fun to see their reactions! They tried to find the leprechauns all day long! My cute mom came in and brought my class homemade sugar cookies (YUMMY!!!), and a St. Patrick's Day word search. They loved it! Here are a few pictures. They may be a little hard to see, click on them and they become bigger!! I can't wait to do silly things like this with my own kids! Thanks mom for teaching me to LOVE holidays!!

Princess Wishes

When we were younger, my mom used to always take my sister and I to Disney on Ice. We always got a snowcone in the keepsake Disney cups, and cotton candy. We have gone to the shows for the last few years as well! We always joke about my mom taking her 20 and 30 something year old daughters when most people take their 5 year olds! We love going! If you have kids and you have never gone, I highly recommend it! We had tickets to go on Friday. With the long, hard week we have had (on top of the tragedy, I had parent/teacher conferences as well), we decided it would be good to get out. We excitedly went to the show and ran into my dad, who works at the Delta Center, and he gave us an awesome surprise! He gave us front row tickets to replace our 18th row tickets!!! It was soooooo cool! We were practically getting sprayed with the ice!! We had a great time, and we, of course, got a Little Mermaid snowcone cup and cotton candy that came with a Minnie Mouse crown! I loved every minute of it, and am so grateful that my mom still takes care of her babies!!!

We love you, Popsicle!

This last week has been a long, sad one. My family experienced something tragic. My sweet baby cousin passed away on March 8th. There are 10 grandkids and he is the youngest. He is actually 21 years old. My grandpa used to call us "The Perfect 10"! We share a special bond in my family, that a lot of people have not been able to understand. We have been at my Aunt Sherri's house almost everyday this week, mourning with each other, and supporting one another. On Monday night we made 250 buttons with Landon's picture on it, and ordered wrist bands to remember him by. Tuesday was the viewing and Wednesday was the funeral. It was a beautiful funeral. My Aunt Debbie gave the opening prayer, I read the obituary, my sister gave a BEAUTIFUL talk, three friends performed FABULOUS musical numbers, and my mom gave the closing prayer. The spirit was felt by all and it was SO strong! There were so many people at the funeral, it was amazing! Landon was a great person, who was loved by everyone who knew him!! We all love our little Popsicle! My thoughts and prayers have been with my Aunt Sherri, Uncle Rick, and cousins, Aaron, Adam, and Devin. The four brothers shared an amazing bond with each other, and it has been very hard on all of them! Please keep the Smith family in your thoughts and prayers, as these next few weeks when things have calmed down and people are gone, will probably be the hardest. Family is the most important thing, please do not take yours for granted! We all know that Landon is in a much better place now. We know he is up there rubbing my Grammy Em's feet, and playing pranks with my Grandpa Ken! I love each of you that are reading this! Thank you to all of you who have offered your love and support to me and my family.

Locks of Love

So I finally cut my hair!!!! I have been wanting to for months, and I did it Monday night. I had an appointment scheduled for 3 weeks from now, and my friend, Jaclyn, was getting her hair cut last night, and had me go with her! I cut about 10 inches to donate to Locks of Love. Then the amazing hairstylist (let me know if you want her number) cut another 2-3 inches after that!!! It was crazy, but I am glad I did it, despite Trevor's reaction. Let's just say, expect to see either a neck beard or a nasty mustache!! He'll learn to love it eventually!! To see Jaclyn's cute hair cut, check out Jaclyn and Brandon on my Blog list. Also, any info regarding Locks of Love can be found at locksoflove.org. It takes 6-9 ponytails to make one wig, and about $6000 dollars per wig! I figured one little ponytail was the least I could do!! Here's the pics:
What am I doing?!
Too late now,
here it is!!!! Love the new 'do!!

I got this picture e-mailed to me from my friend, Deb. I love it and thought I would post it for all to enjoy!
